The Ocean Shores Community Gallery was officially opened by local historian Frank Mills OAM on Friday evening, August 10th, at 6pm.
The gallery is located in the shop next to the Target Country department store at the Ocean Village Shopping Centre, Rajah Road, Ocean Shores.
The shopping centre management have made the shop available free of charge to the Ocean Shores Community Association (OSCA) for use as a community gallery until commercially leased. The gallery is part of the current celebrations of the Ocean Shores Spring into Spring Fair, and features two exhibitions.
Both exhibitions reflect on the growth of Ocean Shores and district. “A walk in space along our coast” is a selection of aerial photographs, from 1957 to the present. They tell the story of the Byron shire coastline and its towns and villages, from Ocean Shores to Broken Head. The second exhibition, “A Retrospective of Local Art of Ocean Shores” is a look at artwork purchased by patrons over the past eight years from the Ocean Shores Art Expo.
