Dear OSCA Member

Welcome to the Ocean Shores Community Association (OSCA) News Report. OSCA is taking part in the Ocean Shores’ Shopping Village’s Spring into Spring Fair, which we hope will become an annual event. There are many activities planned for the six weeks of the Fair, including a $1000 cash shopping docket barrel drawn on Saturday September 1st 11am in the shopping mall, a cocktail party and others. Prizes will also be drawn each Friday. Watch the media each week for details, or visit the OSCA website.

On two Saturdays 14th July and 1st September, there will be a free supervised 4 x 8 metre kid’s slide for children 10 years and under. This will be in the front of the Ocean Shores Community Church, next to Target. If raining, the slide will be postponed to the following week. One of the Saturdays is sponsored by the Summerland Credit Union.

Community organisations are invited to take part, with opportunities to raise money and showcase what they do. We are working with Quota, Lions, Marine Rescue, CWA, Bay Rollers and others. If you know of a community organisation that could benefit, please let us know at roger@rajahroad.com.au.

This year, OSCA has been given the opportunity by the shopping centre to borrow the shop next to Target. We are exhibiting a collection of historic aerial photographs of our town and much more. The 2012 OSCA executive team, Vice President Jason Lasky, Secretary Roger Curran, Treasurer Dianne Costin and myself, President Jan Mangleson invite you to come and visit, meet us, and view the collection, plus other art works. There will be something new each week. This will be an OSCA fundraiser, with a gold (coloured!) coin donation to enter. Please let your friends know, or send them this email.

The photo exhibition opens at noon Saturday July 14th and will run for six weeks. If you would like to help out at the exhibition, please let us know. The more people we have, the more often we can open the doors. Please call Jan 66801108 or Roger 66190308, or call in at the shop.

The collection of early and recent aerial photographs of Ocean Shores and district are breathtaking. We have on exhibition a selection of these photographs, starting from 1968 with the Roundhouse as the only building, up to recent years, showing the new highway being built, the growth of the town, the shopping centre, the demolished Roundhouse on an empty site, the golf course, primary school, New Brighton, South Golden Beach, Billinudgel, Brunswick Heads and much more.

If you can identify some of the landmarks, etc, we would love to know.

Our next OSCA meeting is this Monday night, July 16th at 7pm at the exhibition shop, next to Target. The agenda includes the Roundhouse site, Sportsfields, Roads maintenance and other infrastructure, council candidates meeting etc. Please contact our secretary Roger Curran if you would like to discuss an issue, at roger@rajahroad.com.au.

Hope to see you at the exhibition shop,

Regards

Jan Mangleson President, OSCA.
